Leeds City Region teachers CPD - last chance to book

The Leeds City Region Enterprise Partnership (LEP) has been working with the Tech Partnership to offer a series of CPD events for secondary teachers in the region, throughout February and March, and the feedback to date has been very positive.

The events, held at venues around the City Region, are part of the LEP’s #techgoals campaign, designed to help pupils develop the skills they need to join the area’s fast growing digital sector. Comments have included:

  • It looks amazing and just the type of thing to inspire kids and complement KS3.
  • "Extremely informative. Hope to take on board some of the projects with my students."
  • "Really well presented and very informative. Website resources look amazing."
  • “Very good and helpful CPD session.”
  • “Great event – loved it.”

At the events – all held in the late afternoon and lasting for around two hours – teachers are introduced to the wealth of curriculum resources available on the #techgoals platform to improve digital teaching in schools, and offered advice and guidance on how to make the most of them in the classroom. Topics covered in the resources include coding, cyber security, web design and data.

Teachers also get the chance to hear from local employers, reinforcing the need for digital skills in the region and providing real-life examples of successful careers. Among the companies supporting the initiative are Sky, Telefonica O2, DWP, Huawei and the NHS.

Reflecting the importance of the #techgoals programme, teachers attending the events are then able to claim supply cover costs for a full day out of the classroom, allowing them to undertake additional CPD to support their delivery of digital skills in the classroom.

At over halfway through the series, there's still a few places left for the remaining sessions, so book now not to miss out.
